I had a cracker of a weekend, although I only got two sessions rather than the planned four. Had a bit of a late start setting off for Hayling on Saturday due to a hangover from a night on the cocktails on Friday. Got to Hayling around midday after picking up my mate Julian. It was high tide so I checked out Esso beach - it was insane! I've never seen so many people out there, and the carpark was utterly rammed. The only parking option was on the housing estate opposite the garage,. My mate Jules didn't fancy it, as it was 4.2 weather, and his one an only sail is a 5.7! Having driven all that way, I didn't want to desert him, so we went over to Andy Biggs and did a bit of shopping, then grabbed a drink at the Inn on the Beach. I was fairly relaxed about missing that session as I didn't fancy carting my kit miles only to battle for space on the water, and I knew I'd get out that evening at the beach front when the tide dropped anyway. So my first session ended up being at 5ish at Hayling. The wind had died back considerably by then, but I had a very mellow session blasting around on the 5.8 for the entire length of the beach front for an hour or so before the wind died. It was really enjoyable and there were plenty of others out for company.... contd on next post
